WHY YOGA? || Yoga brings clarity and brightness to the mind and lightness to the body. It gives us tools to deal with everyday turmoils and brings us one step closer to inner peace. It develops inner awareness: it puts us in touch with our bodies, our feelings, and our thoughts. It also builds stamina and keeps us in good shape.
WE START WITH BREATH || Breath is a link between the body and the mind. In class we learn a series of postures (āsana-s). We practice them mindfully following long smooth breath (ujjayi breath). At the end of the class we do breathing practices (prānāyāma). Whereas āsana-s build strength and mobility of the body, prānāyāma calms the mind.
ADAPTING TO YOUR NEEDS || Yoga practice is a personal matter. We are all different: we have different bodies and different life experiences. Because of that, we have different needs. What is beneficial for one person might not serve another. In my class I pay close attention to each student and offer variations tailored to each person’s needs.
MAKE YOGA YOUR OWN || Students are given several handouts. I do this to encourage students to develop regular home practice. It is there, by yourself, where you can really notice how you are and what you need. You learn to listen to your inner wisdom.
